Hi – I’m Judith Brown, mountaineer, tai ji practitioner and occasional writer. Welcome to my website and blog-posts.
The inspiration for the title of this site is a Chinese proverb that roughly translates as ‘Open the gate to see the mountain.” You can interpret this many ways. For me it is about being willing to step through the walls of my security to a wider, wilder world. To see beyond the place where I happen to be. To see the mountain. To go there if I can. And to come back.There are few things better than to set out on a new adventure – except coming back again to tell the tale in the comfort of the pub.
Travelling into and with nature; dancing tai ji; these are my keys to the gate, the themes of Open Mountain.
